SRVUSD Reopening Plan Update
Posted 7/25/20

We wanted to make you aware of the most recent development in our Reopening Together plan for the 2020-21 school year. After productive bargaining sessions with SRVEA and successful conversations and partnership with both CSEA and SEIU leaders, we will be proposing revisions to the 2020-21 instructional calendar. The purpose of the revisions is to be able to provide a concentrated, 3-day block of professional development (PD) to teachers and classified instructional support staff prior to the beginning of the new school year.

Pending approval by the Board of Education and ratification by SRVEA and CSEA members, the revised start date for students for the 2020-21 school year will be Thursday, August 13, 2020. Both Thursday, 8/13 and Friday, 8/14 will be minimum days.

From Monday, 8/10 - Wednesday, 8/12, teachers and classified staff will receive PD on social emotional learning, equity, remote teaching and learning, and health and safety so that they are prepared to start the school year successfully.

In order to accommodate this change, the calendar will be altered to convert the previously scheduled staff development days that were to take place on November 3, 2020 and February 16, 2021 to instructional days. By converting these 2 days, we were able to maintain the previously approved 2020-21 holidays, vacations and last day of school, unchanged.

We want to thank our community for voicing support for this change. We are truly partners in this endeavor and we are proud to work with you to do what is best for our students.
