Mark Jewett, President

Mark Jewett attended SRVUSD schools, starting in kindergarten at Rancho Romero Elementary, ultimately graduating from San Ramon Valley High School.  He now has two young children attending San Ramon Valley Unified School District schools.

Mark’s background is in finance and accounting.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics and decision sciences from the University of California at San Diego, a master’s degree in accounting from San Diego State University and a master’s degree in business taxation from the University of Southern California.  He has spent his entire professional career advising financial investors, and private and public companies in all accounting and tax-related matters.  Using this background, Mark aims to improve the levels of district financial transparency by providing plain-language explanations and accessible analysis of complex and uncertain public school finance issues, to build trust among all key stakeholders of our district.  Mark has served on the Measure C Parcel Tax Oversight Committee for three years and has been responsible for building the quantitative model that has served as the basis of the Committee’s review.  Mark has also been active in youth sports coaching, has been the Greenbrook Elementary Ed Fund auditor and has been active in the Children’s Ministry at the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church.

Mark believes strongly in solving for student needs, keeping laser focused on core academic and whole-student programs that will give all of our students the skill sets to meet the challenges of a global 21st century landscape.  Mark also believes in supporting and valuing our teachers and administrators, as the success of our students and the success of our highly valued workforce are mutually dependent.
