SRVUSD Reopening Update
Posted 3/9/21

We know that there has been some confusion regarding a date that the SRVUSD plans to reopen our schools to hybrid in-person instruction for secondary students once we enter the red tier. Based on information published today by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), we believe our County will enter into the red tier next Wednesday (3/17). Assuming that we sustain our present trends in the county until next Tuesday, we are anticipating a return to campus for secondary students on March 17, 2021.

Also based on today’s information, there is a possibility that we could enter the red tier even sooner than March 16th (if the number of vaccination doses in our state exceeds two million). However, in order to present our community with a concrete plan moving forward, together with our bargaining units, we have set the target date of March 17th to reopen our secondary schools for in-person instruction. If we do not officially enter the red tier on March 17th, we will return secondary students to in-person hybrid on the first day that we are allowed to do so after March 17th.

Hybrid Cohorts will be communicated on Monday, March 15th. We will continue to partner with our staff to ensure a smooth transition.

Additionally, bell schedules for March are being reviewed in light of the decision to begin hybrid in-person instruction on March 17th. We will communicate further with you about bell schedules in the near future.

We look forward to welcoming back our secondary students who selected hybrid very soon.
