Parent Survey Return to In-Person
Posted 9/22/20

We would like your perspective on our emerging return to in-person learning plan. This survey is not a declaration of your final decision.  We understand that you may need more information before finalizing this decision (such as when in-person learning might begin, specifics about the hybrid schedule, and details about the health and safety strategies we will be employing), but your responses to this survey will help inform the Board in determining next steps at their meeting on September 29th.

Additional information about our reopening plan is available in the SRVUSD Guide to Reopening posted on our website. This document will be updated regularly as new information becomes available.

Information to help inform your responses:

Structure

_______

  • Any return to in-person learning will be in the Hybrid model only.

  • Hybrid does not mean full time.

  • Students will be in their classroom on campus for the equivalent of at least two days a week, with the potential for one more day of synchronous learning conducted remotely or at school.

  • Students will learn at home when they are not in the classroom. We are still working out the in-class, at-home learning details and different bell schedules through negotiations and consultation.

  • Parents should plan that students will be in the physical or virtual presence of their teacher 50% of the time. For the other 50% of the time, students will be learning by completing tasks/homework/projects assigned by their teacher(s). Having said this, we are still working on different strategies that might provide opportunities for students to connect with their teacher more often during the week.

  • A student’s teacher and/or schedule may need to change.

Safety

_______

  • PPE gear will be provided.

  • All students and staff will be expected to wear masks.

  • Everyone will remain 4 to 6 feet apart.

  • Cohorts will remain small and stable.

  • Entering and leaving the building, lunchtime, recess, and the change of secondary classes will be highly monitored in order to limit exposure.

  • Visitors will not be permitted.

  • Gowns, gloves and shields will be (available for use) while serving some students who require closer contact.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting will occur daily.

  • Hand sanitizer will be placed throughout the school and in every classroom.

  • Testing will occur for students and staff per public health guidelines.

  • Contact tracing, in collaboration with Contra Costa Public Health, will take place. If there is a potential or confirmed case of Covid-19 in a classroom and school, parents and public health will be notified.

Other Information

_______

  • Assessment and evaluation (grading) are factors we are considering related to the timing of when to return to a hybrid in-person instruction model.

  • Remote learning will continue to be offered for those who choose it.

  • Parents must complete one survey for each student in their home.

  • Please complete the survey no later than Friday, September 25th at 5 p.m.

  • Decisions about the remainder of the school year are subject to the outcome of negotiations and consultations.

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is committed to doing our very best to meet the needs of every student and family.  It is important to note that difficult decisions need to be made which may not align with the preferences of each family.

We know that these are challenging times. We want to thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey. We continue to seek your patience and flexibility as we work towards next steps.
