SRVUSD Summer School Information
Posted 5/11/20

We would like to provide an update on our summer school classes for Summer 2020.  This year, SRVUSD will be holding intervention classes for elementary students and remediation classes for secondary students. In addition, we will offer our Middle School Math Bridge program.  Please read through all of the information below, as some information has changed since we first communicated with you regarding summer school.

  • The only students who need to initiate the enrollment process for summer school are those who are taking the Summer Math Bridge Program. All other students who need summer school for remediation will be contacted by their school site and do not need to go through the enrollment process.

  • All summer school classes will be held remotely.

  • All grades issued for secondary summer school students will be Pass/No Mark.

  • Elementary summer school students will receive a narrative progress report.

Elementary School:

  • We will be offering a series of intervention classes in Math and English Language Arts for students going into grades 1-5 next year. Students will be referred for participation by teachers and school sites based on assessment data.

Middle School:

  • We are providing remediation in Math and English Language Arts for middle school students who received a grade of F through our 3rd quarter progress report, or a No Mark during the period of remote learning in those subjects.  Students receiving a D grade will be admitted on a space available basis.

  • We are offering our Middle School Math Bridge Program for students wishing to advance from Course 1 to Course 3, a new option for summer 2020, or from Course 2 to Algebra 1.  There are no prerequisites to advancement.  A separate letter will be sent later today to all Course 1 and Course 2 math students with registration details.

High School:

  • High school remediation will be offered in a variety of subjects to students who received a grade of F first semester, or a No Mark during remote learning. Students who received a D grade during first semester will be admitted on a space available basis.

  • High school classes will be offered through our Edgenuity online platform with guidance from a certificated teacher.

  • Independent study will be offered only to current seniors who have not graduated on time and require classes for an August graduation.

Extended School Year (ESY):

  • Our Extended School Year program will continue to run in full for students who are eligible for ESY through their existing Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

English Language Learner Options:

  • Remote learning programs for English Language Learners will be offered at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility, as summer school has required significant modifications due to the ongoing public health crisis.  Please contact your child’s teacher, counselor or site administrator should you have individual questions. More information is available on our website.
