CSEA and SRVUSD Reach Tentative Agreement

We are very pleased to share with you that this afternoon, January 31, 2020, California School Employees Association, Chapter #65 ("CSEA"), one of two classified bargaining units which represent classified (non-teaching) employees, and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District ("District") reached tentative agreement on a new 3-year successor collective bargaining agreement for the period July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2022.


Some major highlights of the tentative agreement include:

  • An ongoing, base salary schedule increase of 2.56% retroactive to July 1, 2019 along with a "me too" clause should any other bargaining unit negotiate a higher salary or improved District contribution to health and welfare benefits in 2019-2020
  • Expanded provisions for using accumulated and unused vacation leave
  • Reduced eligibility requirements for accessing the Catastrophic Leave Bank and increased leave benefits available through the Bank for members afflicted with a catastrophic illness
  • Addition of a new article on Communication and Training intended to improve communications, ensure access to technology, and promote ongoing skills development of CSEA unit members

The CSEA and District bargaining teams are extremely proud to have reached a tentative agreement that supports the needs of students and improves the working conditions of employees the Association represents. We appreciate the ongoing communication, collaboration and positive manner in which the two negotiating teams engaged with each other during these past several months in navigating the pathway toward settlement.  Finally, we are extremely grateful to the members of both negotiating teams for their service and commitment to the process and to working together professionally to reach a fair and mutually agreeable outcome. 


CSEA will conduct a ratification vote on the tentative agreement at its next chapter meeting on February 24 after which it will be agendized for Board of Education approval in early March.
