Air Quality Advisory
Posted 11/9/18

Dear SRVUSD Staff/Parents

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued an air quality advisory for today, Friday, November 9, due to a wildfire burning in the foothills near Chico and winds blowing smoke into the Bay Area.

All schools and District offices will remain open, but we will limit outdoor activities for students and staff based on air quality readings. Our preventative measures today include:

  • Keep students indoors as much as possible, this includes for lunch, recess, and PE.
Ventilation systems will be shut off to prevent smoke from being drawn into our buildings. The District’s maintenance staff will continue to monitor the situation as needed.

  • Windows and doors will remain closed as much as possible.

  • We will be making a decision about after school practices and this evening’s games by noon. We will update you on this decision as soon as possible.

We are monitoring the air quality issues and will keep you informed if anything changes. You can also stay up to date on the current air quality by visiting the BAAQMD website or checking

Thank you for your cooperation and patience. If you have any additional questions, please contact your school principal. You can also visit for a description of reporting zones, an explanation of the Air Quality Index (AQI), current readings, and additional air quality information.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Graswich
